Koson designed more than five hundred woodblock prints of flowers and (or) birds during the early 1900s. Two features shared by many of these prints were first, true-to-life coloring and shaping of the objects depicted and second, the use of a dark background (i.e., gray or black) to make the more brightly-colored foreground objects stand out. Twenty-five of Koson’s prints with these two features are included in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. To see additional prints by Koson click here.
